My name is Dammaru Niraula, a freelance trekking guide from Kathmandu with 22 years of experience in the Himalayas. I hold a government-authorized license to lead treks in Nepal’s mountain regions.
From Sherpa to Certified Guide
My journey began in 1988 as a Sherpa (assistant guide). I later worked as an assistant cook, gaining valuable field experience. After completing a two-month certified trekking guide training course under His Majesty’s Government of Nepal, I became a licensed trekking guide. I also studied English and completed a Japanese language course to better serve international clients.
Long-Term Industry Experience
In addition to guiding, I worked for over a decade in operations at Himalayan Holidays Trekking Pvt. Ltd., Kathmandu. This experience sharpened my organizational and service delivery skills. I later transitioned to a part-time role and established my own trekking office while continuing freelance work.
Trekking Regions Expertise
I have led treks in the Everest, Langtang, Annapurna, and Lower Mustang regions. These areas are deeply familiar to me, including their local cultures, flora and fauna, history, and environmental conditions.
